Welcome
NAS Guard consists of two parts: the NAS Guard Agent (running near your TrueNAS) and the NAS Guard iOS app (on your iPhone). This guide explains setup, pairing, and how the secure TrueNAS connection works.
Note: The one-click Agent install described in this guide requires NAS Guard version 1.16 or later.
Goal: Reliable alerts and live status, even with self-signed TrueNAS certificates.
What NAS Guard can do
- Monitor — Live dashboard (CPU, temperature, memory), storage pools, ZFS datasets, network interfaces, services, shares (SMB, NFS, iSCSI, NVMe-oF), replication and Cloud Sync tasks, Docker apps, virtual machines, UPS, and alerts.
- Browse files — Navigate your TrueNAS filesystem, preview documents and images via QuickLook, play audio and video, and stream videos via the Agent.
- Control (In-App Purchase) — Start/stop services, apps, and VMs; create and delete snapshots; run tasks; manage scrubs, shares, and datasets; install updates; and ask questions with the On-Device Assistant.
- Widgets — Home Screen and Lock Screen widgets with live status at a glance.
- Push alerts — Real-time notifications for NAS problems via the Agent.

Quick start
- Create a server profile in the iOS app (TrueNAS URL + API key).
- Install the Agent from the app with one tap (Server Monitoring → Install Agent).
- Create a pairing code in the iOS app and enter it in the Agent Web UI.

The NAS Guard Agent
The Agent is a lightweight container that runs on your TrueNAS. It monitors your server and sends real-time push alerts to your iPhone — no port forwarding required, and your data stays private. The Agent also provides HLS video streaming and direct file streaming for the in-app file browser.
